<image:title>Metropolitan Museum - ...</image:title>
<image:caption>The Metropolitan Museum's plaza and iconic front steps along 5th Avenue are an important public space in New York City. Before the recent renovation, the 1970's-era fountains had fallen into disrepair and the nighttime plaza was an unwelcoming, flood-lit, largely empty expanse. With the new renovation, nighttime lighting of the plaza, water features, and especially the facade create a welcoming atmosphere befitting this matriarch of New York cultural life.</image:caption>

<image:title>The High Line - ...</image:title>
<image:caption>The High Line was originally constructed during the Great Depression to shuttle freight to factories and food processing plants along Manhattan's west side. Rendered obsolete by the late 1970's, the High Line fell into disrepair and was slated for demolition in the late 1990's until two local, grass-roots activists advocated for the line's preservation and reuse as a public open space and greenway.</image:caption>

All light sources are strategically located below eye level to prevent glare or user discomfort that might detract from the nightscape.</image:caption>

<image:title>Lincoln Center - Alice Tully Hall - ...</image:title>
<image:caption>Alice Tully Hall was transformed as part of Lincoln Center's $1.2 billion campus redevelopment effort. Located within a 1960s brutalist structure by Pietro Belluschi, Alice Tully's former building was a cloistered / bunker-like venue that felt disconnected from the urban fabric and pulse of modern New York. The renovation and expansion by Architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro introduced large expanses of clear glass to reintegrate the theater with the bustling street life of the city. At night these glass walls disappear, providing transparency and openness in harmony with Lincoln Center's mission of bringing the performing arts to everyday people.</image:caption>

<image:title>Bridge Street Brooklyn - ...</image:title>
<image:caption>Located within downtown Brooklyn, Jason Neches (with L'Observatoire) was commissioned late in the project to give the building a stronger presence for pedestrians (podium façade) and within the Brooklyn skyline (tower crown). The mid-block location left the building's entrance and street frontage hidden by the many commercial offices/business that are dormant at night. Therefore our lighting solution is intended to be strong, crisp, engaging, yet carefully controlled.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Mission College is a public community college that opened in 1975. The college’s initial building of 235,000sf contained all classrooms, student services and administrative offices within a single structure. That initial building (aka “Main Building”) – an introverted, concrete structure of the brutalist style – served the college well in its early years, but lost relevance as the college expanded into a large campus of purpose-built buildings.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A 2008 Master Plan advanced the demolition of the Main Building and in its place the creation of a new green space / park of ~ 4.3 acres in the center of campus. The plaza provides the campus with a renewed “sense of place” and a new focal point of campus activity and life.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In parallel with Washington Federal’s national brand refresh and transition to WaFd Bank, the corporate headquarters underwent a thorough renovation of their flagship Seattle location. The previous scheme of a traditional branch bank (cloistered teller counter, cubicles for loan officers, convoluted circulation) was refreshed as an open, continuous, free-flowing space containing the corporate lobby, a retail bank branch, and a Starbucks café.</image:caption>

<image:title>Freeway Park - ...</image:title>
<image:caption>Freeway Park is an iconic work of landscape architecture by Lawrence Halprin & Associates that spans over Interstate 5. Opened in 1976, Freeway Park was the first to “lid” over an active interstate highway, stitching together vibrant neighborhoods with the downtown business district and repairing an unfortunate cleave due to the highway’s construction.</image:caption>

<image:title>Freeway Park - ...</image:title>
<image:caption>The first few decades in the park were a resounding success. The landscape matured and residents took advantage of precious park space and convenient pedestrian connections to downtown. Recent decades has seen the park landscape become overgrown, deterioration in park infrastructure, an increase in homeless and a decline in pedestrian activity.</image:caption>

<image:title>Freeway Park - ...</image:title>
<image:caption>The goal of this renovation is to make the park more welcoming, bring people back to active use, restore its role as a centerpiece of Seattle’s park system, and celebrate / preserve this iconic work of landscape architecture for future generations.</image:caption>
